I moved to San Francisco about a year ago. Before that I lived in concord about 45 min away from the city.
Growing up i didn't have a lot of friends. My mother was to over protecting with good cause. See we are fugitives from El Salvador. My great great uncle was Maximiliano Martinez president during 1931 to 1944. now pay attention, this is not in the school books.
Because max was not paid my the Salvadorian government he found funding in the US and the richest families of El Salvador. He promised a big turn around once the country's economy was stable. Instead he led a military government, most notably the Salvadoran peasant revolt of 1932, where thousands of indigenous Salvadoran people were systematically murdered if they were suspected of collaboration with the communists including his own son. This massacre came to be known as La Matanza. after Max was murdered by his driver, my remaining family members where constantly being harassed with gun fire, bombs and raping of the women of my family. During 1970s-1980s, an extreme right-wing death squad named after him operated in the country, My mother was so afraid for her life that she ran away to Mexico, there I was born and shortly after i could walk we settled down in North California.
Every day was the same wake up go to school and come home to 9 people all who lived under the same roof.Typical Latin family. Growing up was for me was tough I had to be the translator for the whole family. I feel that i grew up to fast that i didn't even build the skills needed to make friends. around the age of 10 my brother was born. sadly we have no common interests.
I tend to keep my thoughts to y self and I'm mostly quiet, which is wired because 4 years a go i was the loud one of the group.
